Ideal Light For A Cube Aquarium With Low Light Plants
June 7, 2013
My 4 star rating is based on growing plants that require low light such as crypts and java fern. If you plan on keeping plants needing medium
light I would reduce the rating by a full star since this light is really designed for nano aquariums with low light plants.
Of course, the smaller the aquarium the higher the par value. The Nano Type P looks great on a cube aquarium with its high tech aesthetic.
I use it on a Mr. Aqua 7.5 gallon aquarium in conjunction with a Fluval 13 watt compact fluorescent light and it works fine. The Nano Type P
on its own wasn't powerful enough to grow the dwarf hairgrass that I have planted in this aquarium, which is why I added the Fluval light.
It would have been nice to grow the dh with just the Nano Type P. Perhaps AquaTop will make these light more powerful in the future because
it really looks so much better than most of the lights available for Nano aquariums.
Pros:Beautiful looking aesthetic, nicely made, separate on/off switch, looks great on rimless cube aquariums up to about 8 gallons.
Cons:In my experience, not powerful enough to effectively grow any plants that require moderate to high light.
