Questions and Answers: By Ken from Colorado on November 7, 2012 I have a 300 gallon tank that is 30" deep. I currently have two 36" T5HO lights that need to be replaced. Would two of these lights perform as well as the T5HO lights? I have fresh water fish in it and was also wondering if it would light up the bottom of the tank being that it is 30" deep. By Customer Service on November 9, 2012Answer:Hello Ken,
We have not run our SL-36 lights on an aquarium with your water depth. However, our product specialist estimates that two of the SL-36 lights will provide plenty of lighting from the top to the bottom of your 30" tank. These lights are not rated by Aquatop Aquatic Supplies to support photosynthetic life so we do not recommend this set up if you have live plants or corals. For planted and reef systems, be sure to check out our SLP and SLR Series. http://www.truaqua.com/aquarium-plant-led-light-36-inch.html

BW/MABy ricardo from new york on May 16, 2012 Lights dimmable yes or. No By Customer Service on May 17, 2012Answer:Hello Ricardo,
We have received your recent product inquiry regarding AquaTop's 36" SkyLED aquarium light fixture. SkyLED units do not include controls for dimming the LEDs. Each unit includes three switches to independently control the LEDs. Each unit has white, red and blue LEDS. Please check the link below. The product pictures include a lighting diagram that illustrates the different color schemes and combinations one can achieve by using the independent LED switches.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.By terran johnson from baltimore maryland on January 9, 2013 I have a 150 gallon fresh water tank 72x18x29 I wanted to put the right led fixture on my aquarium so that it will get to the depth of my aquarium what should I do??? By Customer Service on January 11, 2013Answer:Hello Terran,
Assuming that your tank is 18 inches deep and 29 inches from front to back, using two SLP-36 lights will provide more than sufficient lighting for a 150 gallon tank and should penetrate far enough into the water to keep you and your ecosystem happy.
Thank you!

By Jerrie from Indiana on July 25, 2012 Anyone know what the kelvin rating is on these lights? I don't think I saw it anywhere in the product description. I have 2 of these lights and am happy with them for the light output. I'm wondering if plants will grow under them. By Customer Service on July 26, 2012Answer:Hello Jerrie,
We have received your recent product inquiry regarding a 36" SkyLED aquarium light fixture. The Kelvin rating for the white LEDs is 14k. The blue LEDs are rated at 460nm and the red LEDs are rate at 650nm. The SkyLED Series is not marketed by AquaTop Aquatic Supplies to support photosynthetic life. Although if the units are applied to an aquarium system that does not exceed 18" in height, low light loving plants such as Anubias, Crypts and most stemming plants.
If there is anything further we can do for you please let us know.By Jorge Higueros from Guatemala on July 26, 2012 HI I want to know what is the maxium height with cover this lamp in reef tank? By Customer Service on July 26, 2012Answer:Hello Again Jorge!
We have received your recent product inquiry regarding the use of a 36" SkyLED over a reef aquarium. The SkyLED Series is not marketed to support photosynthetic life. Although if applied to an aquarium which does not exceed 18" they will grow low light loving coral such as mushrooms, zoanthids and most soft coral.
However we are unsure how much usable light an aquarium cover will reduce.
AquaTop Aquatic Supplies does not market nor insist that the SkyLED Series will grow plants or coral but we have many customer who use them on aquariums that house low light loving photosynthetic life.
If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to ask. By Jorge Higueros from Guatemala on July 26, 2012 In the led aquatop 36 what is the maxium deep of the light in tank and the same question for the 48", for example my tank 70 heigt and is a reef tank By Customer Service on July 26, 2012Answer:Hello Again Jorge,
We have received your recent product inquiry regarding the use of a 48" and/or 36" SkyLED aquarium light on a 70" tall reef aquarium. If you are looking to use the light for decorative purpose they will do well making coral and fish color pop. We do not recommend the use of either unit to support coral growth, especially on a 70" tall aquarium. Useable light will reach a maximum depth of 18".
If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to ask.By Linda from Gilbert, AZ on August 31, 2012 Can this light sit on top of a glass cover?
By Customer Service on August 31, 2012Answer:Hello Linda,
We have received your recent product inquiry regarding a 36" SkyLED aquarium light fixture. We do not recommend setting the light fixture directly on top of the glass aquarium cover. Each SkyLED includes adjustable leg mounts which you could use to prop up and off of your glass aquarium cover. If you are to use the light leg mounts, the unit would sit approximately 2" above the aquarium cover keeping the light fixture out of water's way.
If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to ask.Product Reviews:

Great Value and Tank Looks Amazing
June 12, 2012

If you need lighting to provide you a bright tank and a
great shimmering effect, but are working on a budget, then this is
your light. I was impressed initially by the fixture itself. It has
a clean, streamline design that looks pro-grade. While it's very
light in weight, the design's fine lines maintain a quality look. I
wasn't sure at first of the simple plastic legs, but I was
pleasantly surprised to find that they were easy to install, and
mounted effortlessly to the tank. It sits at a nice height and sets
securely. The cord was easy to work with, and the finished product
looked like a high-end light. As for the light itself, I loved it.
The LEDs are bright and penetrate deep into the tank. The glow is
cool and consistent. I leave all 3 colors on a once, and it just
fills the tank with a even, cool white light. The ripples, waves,
and bubbles really glisten, picking up hints of blue and red, and
the fish really sparkle. Any fish with a potentially shimmering
color, really pop under these lights; its like I'm looking at a new
set of fish. The fixture is silent and easy to slide to and from
the foreground and background. Some buyers might want a more nailed
down location, but the light-weight body won't provide that. Its
quite cool to the touch, and markedly cooler than my old T5HO. I'm
also looking forward to some energy savings from my previous light.
I still can't get over the price; I feel the value is unbeatable.
When you see this thing in action, you'll be amazed it didn't cost
more. I usually fell that "you get what you pay for", so I wasn't
expecting to be overwhelmed, but this light really surprised and
impressed me. Only con: I like to keep a couple of low maintenance
live plants in my tank, and they don't seem to be responding well
to the LEDs; but its perfect for non-planted tanks. *I've only had
the tank for a few weeks, so I can't comment on "Durability", but
so far, so good.

I purchased 1 SkyLED 36" for my 40g breeder tank and I am
totally satisfied with its performance, I used to a run the
marinland LED. But these light are bright and it brings out the
colors of the tank. This light fixture is also light in weight and
easy to mount. I would highly recommend this light for anyone
looking for a quality LED lighting. The best feature is the ability
to change the coloring of the light. There are blue, red and white
lights and can be used in any combination to create different
effects. . I am very satisfied with this company and will be doing

May 18, 2012
I use this LED fixture on a 58 gallon Oceanic freshwater
aquarium. The aquarium is tall and the light penetration is very
good. Shimmer effect is minimal as opposed to other lights I have
seen in use. The moonlights provide a great effect and brings the
fish that hide out into the open so they can be observed. The build
quality is great and the fit onto the aquarium was very good. This
light is a very good value. The regular price is ridiculously
over-inflated to show the savings. We use all of the LED's during
the day. The red and blue bring out color in the aquarium. A
version with multiple cords to use with multiple timers would be
appreciated. I'd buy this light again.

SkyLED 36"
March 10, 2012
I purchased 2 SkyLED 36" for my 72" 150g fowlr tank and I
am totally satisfied with its performance, features and value of
this light. I used to a run power compact flourescent light and
this LED light was bright and it brings out the colors of the tank.
The best feature is the ability to change the coloring of the
light. There are blue, red and white lights and can be used in any
combination to create different effects. This light fixture is also
light in weight and easy to mount. Also comparing the cost,
lighting outputs and versatility of the SkyLED to other
manufacturers, you get the best bang for the buck. I would highly
recommend this light for anyone looking for a quality LED lighting.

My Aquarium Looks So Good!
October 3, 2011
The LEDs make my fish tank look steller! The color of my
fish look great. I can see colors I did not see before. The LEDs
shine all the way to the bottom of my tank and give the shimmer
effect of natural daylight! At night I like to shut off the White
LEDs and use the Blue and Red LEDs to give my tank a Moon-Lit
effect.
