Waht is the difference between this model and HT-100 model?
Also, I will need a heater for a conventional 10-gallon rectangular tank with no top (This set-up will cause greater heat loss than the set-up with a lid/cover.)? I expect the maximum difference between the room temperature and the desired water temperature to be approximately 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

There are subtle differences between the HT Series & the GH Series. For starters the HT Series is a smaller line of Heaters while the GH Series is a full line of Heaters. For example, we offer a 50W & 75W GH Heater but the smallest HT Heater is 100W. The HT Heaters come with protective end caps and the GH Series Heaters do not. The HT Heater has a temperature setting dial on top where the temperature numbers can be seen and the GH Heater has a knob on top but the temperature numbers are seen on the heater itself. There are quiet a bit of images available n our website which illustrate the features of each product. As far as he performance differences are concerned, they are about the same.
With the provided information you have submitted regarding your choice of heater, a 100W unit will do fine with a 30 degree swing.
