Good buy, mid quality

No secret I love TruAqua. Good gear at good prices. This powerhead appears to have good build and works very well. Only complaints are: 1) it's a bit noisy, as in vibrating chassis/housing, and 2) mounting suction cups are a bit small given the size of powerhead. What do I like? Every other aspect. I haven't used the venturi intake yet.
Pros:
Couples to the brilliant inline UV sterilizer unit Good flow
Cons:
Housing a bit buzzy (vibrations) Suction cup mounts could be bigger Needs longer power cord

Quietly efficient!

I have a 30gal tall tank, and have the power head/lift tube assembly on a bio sponge filter. Tank has stayed very clear, but I may have too much aeration with this unit. I periodically stop air flow, but fish sem to prefer the extra bubbles! Just concerned about over-saturation.
Pros:
Easy To Clean, Needs Little Upkeep, Durable, Quiet, Effective
Cons:
Maybe Too Much Power For
Best Uses:
Over 30gal

Long Lasting & Works Great
May 20, 2012
I purchased this powerhead to pump water from my 55 gallon tank into a home-made PVC (4" pipe) filter which then flows back into the tank. I made the filter about a year ago & have been using the same powerhead this entire time. It works great. The PVC pipe filter is just a little taller than the tank. I pump the water from the bottom of the tank to the top of the filter, and a pipe goes from the bottom of the filter back into the other side of the tank. I hang a 25micron filter inside the PVC pipe. The powerhead is attached via 1/2" pvc pipe, running to the filter. The powerhead outlet is not quite exact for a 1/2" pvc pipe, but was easy to get it to attach. I LOVE this powerhead because it has lasted SO long & is still going strong. I can unplug it when I feed & just plug it in without worrying about priming it to start it again. My water stays crystal clear when I use a 25 micron filter bag in the PVC pipe, and the powerhead has NO problem pumping the water up about 2 feet and through the filter. I won't ever go back to a store-bought filter. I used to have 2 store-bought filters (each one said for a 55 gallon tank) that hung on the back of the tank. They didn't keep the water as clean as this one, and I was replacing them about every 3 months because the pump/motor would go out on them. I also had to prime them every time I re-started them, which was a pain. This one little inexpensive powerhead is amazing!!!! Like I said, it's been going strong for a year. I can't wait to see how long it lasts!
Pros:
Effective, Quiet, No need to prime, Fits pvc 12, Needs Little Upkeep, Durable
Best Uses:
Large Tanks, Sole pump for filter, Larger Fish, For 55gal aquarium
