We need a power head for my daughters 21/2 gal betta tank for the undergravel filter and were wondering if this would work or if it would it be too big i add a pic of the small tank Thanks Carrie
By Customer Service on July 6, 2012

Answer:
Hello Carrie,

We have received your recent product inquiry regarding the use of a PH-8 Powerhead to power an Under Gravel Filter in a 2.5g gallon Betta aquarium. We feel the PH-8 has too much water flow for your Betta aquarium. The PH-8 has an output of approximately 158 gph and the unit does not offer an adjustable flow rate. 158 gallons per hour is a lot of flow inside of a 2.5 gallon aquarium. Unfortunately we do not offer a smaller Powerhead, the PH-8 is the smallest unit we have. We recommend looking for a Powerhead with a flow rates less than 100 gallons per hour. If you can find a Powerhead which offers less than 80 gph this would be ideal.

If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to ask.

have a 150gal tank, how big of power head do I need?
By Customer Service on July 23, 2012

Answer:
Hello Steve,

We have received your recent product inquiry regarding the use of a PH Series Powerhead on your 150 gallon aquarium.

Without knowing much about your aquarium system and its inhabitants we'd recommend the use of a Powerhead which compliments the aquatic creatures your aquarium system houses.

If you need a low flow rate we recommend the use of a PH-8.

If you need a medium flow rate we recommend the use of a PH-16 or PH-22.

If you are looking for a high flow rate we recommend the use of a PH-35.

If there is anything further we can do for you please let us know.

Great Powerhead
October 27, 2014
This powerhead is great, I use it to distribute CO2 air bubbles in my 46 gallon tank and it works, my plants are thriving, growing better than ever. Is also circulating even more water in my tank. TruAqua is terrific, will definitely buy more of their products as needed, am purchasing a more powerful powerhead for my 150 and a few of their flexible nets. Thanks TruAqua.

It works!
February 11, 2013
I bought this to replace a power head that I honestly cannot even begin to guess the age of (I'll say it was at least 12 years old). I have no idea what brand it was, only that it was awesome and finally pooped out. Anyway, I wanted something comparable for the 30 gallon tank that holds 3 goldfish and a pleco. I've had it for 2.5 weeks now and I have no complaints.
Pros:
Effective, Quiet
Best Uses:
Larger Fish, Large Tanks

So far so good
August 16, 2012
I've only been using this powerhead for a few weeks now, so it's too early to comment on its durabilty. The impeller shaft is stainless steel. The unit uses 8 watts as advertised. It moves lots of water. I didn't test to see if it is 158 gallons per hour, but it seems like it. Venturi air intake works up to about 1 foot deep.
Pros:
Easy To Clean, Good value, Quiet, Effective
Best Uses:
Larger Fish, Small Tanks, Large Tanks, Tropical Fish

powerful
November 4, 2011
I use this powerhead as an air remover for my sump pump filtration on 220 gallon tank. My overflow has a small air relief air tube and an aqua lift didnt last very long. i did have air line running to the actual sump pump until after five years, it pumped itself to death. this powerhead is strong enough to pull the air out of the chamber and into the tank. wish i thought of this a long time ago!!
Pros:
Durable, Effective, Needs Little Upkeep, Quiet

Tropical Fish, Large Tanks

Exactly what I wanted
October 22, 2011
Found the PH-8 to be the ideal powerhead to use in my 20 gallon long's. I used it for both water movement and to use as part of a DIY filter. It definitely meets my needs. The flow from the outlet is not too powerful to upset my inhabitants. Should I decide to make a small above-tank wet and dry filter for the tanks, I am confident the PH-8 will provide enough power to send the water to it.
Pros:
Price preformance size
Best Uses:
Small Tanks

October 10, 2011
Bought 2 of these for my 10G Nano tank. They offer great flow so I only had to use one. Had to play around with the placement a bit but over all it's a great powerhead that offers great flow for the fish and corals. Thank you for such an amazing offer.
Pros:
Effective, Easy To Clean, Quiet, Durable, Needs Little Upkeep
Cons:
No flow adjust
