By Customer Service on July 2, 2012

Answer:
Hello Bobby,

We have received your recent product inquiry regarding the use of a UVCP-13.

Yes, a UVCP-13 will help aid in clarifying your pond water. With this being said a 13W unit does have it limits.

Would you mind proving additional information regarding your pond? With more information we'll be better suited to assist you.

How may gallons is your pond?

What type of filtration do you currently have?

What is the turnover rate of you filtration system?

Does your pond receive direct sunlight?

For how many hours?

Please describe how many fish you have, the type of fish and the average size.

I want to buy this pump for my girlfriend, but I don't really know much about fish. First off, she has a 100 Gallon freshwater tank and another 50 gallon saltwater tank. The real question is if this pump is overkill for either of those tanks? My next question is is this intended to replace the current pump or work with it? Because the pump she has now is really big and loud and is like a waterfall and you can't hear the TV or anything people say when talking. And lastly, how loud is the pump? Either dB or reviews on general use will do. Thanks and sorry for so many questions because I do now know anything about fish.

I know you have to have a speciffic dwell time for the uv wattage to kill parasites like marine ICH... is this unit capable of doing that or is the dwell time now long enough? so my question is your product the UVCP-13 submersible pump with UV capable to killing marine ICH or parasites
By Customer Service on August 7, 2012

Answer:
Hello Zachery,

We have received your recent product inquiry regarding the use of a UCVP-13 in a marine environment for the purpose of killing Ich. The unit is capable of kill Ich if the flow rate is adjusted by 50%. We do not recommend dialing back the flow rate this much. It may cause damage to the motor.

We do have two other alternatives for you.

UVE-13 has a flow rate of 211GPH which is ideal for killing/preventing Ich. This unit can be found at the link below.

UVP-13 is nearly the same unit but the cost is a little less and can be found at the link below.

Freed my 1000 pond of green water in 3 days!!!
August 18, 2013
My new 1000 gallon, 3 level, pond of 5 weeks went from crystal clear well water to deep green in a matter of days. I could not see my pond fish any longer. It frustrated me after all the work and money invested in creating my pond, in addition to running my filter 24/7 for green water. I bought the pond plants, the floating plants, a few snails, the barley bales, the concentrated barley, the natural bacteria...nothing seemed to clear the water. Since my pond was already complete and I didn't plan prior to install a UV light, I decided to researched an all-in-one submersible pump. After reading many reviews, I decided on going with the UVCP-13. It's a bit more powerful than I needed, but after being so dissapointed with my prior applications, I didn't want to under mind any thing, plus my pond is in 100% sun with no shade whats so ever. The only tree nearby had died. Well, each day when I looked at the pond after installing the UV it seemed clearer. The first day I was able to see some of the boulders that surrounded the upper level. By the second day, I swear I was able to see some of the rocks on the 2nd level along with some fish that swam near the top of the water. By the 3rd day I can now count every single rock, bolder and fish!!!!! I'm excited to sit outside by my pond and watch the fish swim around. This is the reward I was hoping for after the work and expense of installing the pond. Don't think twice about purchasing this uv pump...it is well worth it and will give you the results you are hoping for.
Pros:
Quite, works quickly-within days.
Cons:
So far, there are no cons.

Took about two weeks to clean up a 850 gallon pond. Still not as crystal clear as I would like. Pond has been green for months so it's a big change.

The UVCP-13 does an excellent job clarifying aquarium or pond water. It will help to eradicate free-floating algae and help suppress unwanted algae blooms. The large Pre-Filter Sponge helps to keep the water passing through the unit clear as well as keep the Quartz Sleeve free from build-up in turn maximizing UV exposure to the water. The Pre-Filter Sponge is easily clean and the UV Bulb is simple and easy to replace.
