AQUATOP UVCP-9 UV PUMP
AQUATOP’s UVCP-9 and UVCP-13 UV Pumps are a perfect and versatile method to eradicate and control free-floating micro-organisms that cause the unsightly green water as well as disease causing pathogens in both your fresh & saltwater aquariums. The versatility of these fully submersible UV Pumps also allow for applications in your outdoor garden ponds.

Clear Water Is Possible
Inside each UVCP unit is a powerful UV bulb that targets free-floating algae, disease casing pathogens and parasites. Murky water is exposed to the germicidal grade UV light, and the result is cleaner, healthier water. In addition, slower flow rates maximize the exposure time of the water with the UV light, making this pump extremely effective in large tanks and water gardens.

Unlike conventional UV Sterilizers which need the addition of a pump and extra plumbing, the UVCP-9 has a built in pump and ready to use without the hassle of extra plumbing. Installation is easy and the 9-watt UV lamp is suitable to sterilize capacities up to 1585 gallons.

The descriptions say "suitable to sterilize capacities up to 1,585 gallons" so would this be overkill for a 100 gallon outdoor pond?
By Customer Service on May 8, 2012

Answer:
Greetings Michael,

We have received your recent product inquiry regarding AquaTop's UVP-9. Unfortunately the UVP-9 in not geared for outdoor use. Although we do offer a similar unit well suited for outdoor use. Below is a link to a comparable unit.

http://truaqua.com/aquatop-uv-pump-uvcp-92.html

The UVCP-9 offers much longer power cord and is built for a outdoor use. The unit includes a larger Pre-Filter Sponge specific for pond use and the 9W UV Bulb is not over kill for your 100 gallon outdoor pond. The unit will not only help with free-floating algae but will help keep eliminate disease casing pathogens and free-floating parasites.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.

I was wondering if it creates a fast flow rate and if it creates microbubbles. Im considering getting it for my 75 gallon salt water tank.
Thank you

Answer:
Hello Rene,
The UVCP-9 aquarium pump is rated at 528 GPH, which would cycle your tank seven times per hour. It’s important to consider your current filtration setup and the amount of cycles per hour or GPH at which your tank is currently running. Depending on the livestock, you may want to go with a less powerful unit. Since you are using a stand-alone unit, you will find added benefits of going with a pump that has a lower flow rate and a 9-watt bulb because it is not dedicated to filtration but water sterilization. See this link: http://www.truaqua.com/uv-sterilizing-pump-uve9.html. A slower flow rate maximizes the exposure time of the water with the UV light and renders the pump more effective than a higher flow rate unit.

What is the Head Lift on this pump (how high will the water be pumped)?
By Customer Service on June 21, 2012

Answer:
Hello Crystal,

We have received your recent product inquiry regarding a UVCP-9. The UVCP-9 is not intended to pump water vertically therefore we do not have nor include Max Head Pressure Specifications. Would you please tell us a little more about the intended application of the unit?

If you are looking to use the UVCP-9 with a fountain kit we do offer a unit which is very similar and includes a fountain kit. The UVFK-9 can be found at the link below.

how is this uv sterilizer installed?
By Customer Service on August 6, 2012

Answer:
Hello Randy,

We have received your recent product inquiry regarding the installation of a UVCP-9. Installing a UVCP-9 is rather simple. Each unit is practically ready to go right out of the box. Before installing we recommend visually checking the unit for any signs of damage which may have occurred during shipping. If everything looks good, give the unit and its components a thorough rinse with clean freshwater. After rinsing you can let the unit air dry or use a soft cloth.

The unit must be installed fully submersed. In an aquarium the unit can be mounted horizontally or vertically.

There is not much more regarding installation.

On the products web page, we offer a downloadable version of the Owner's Manual. We recommend taking a look at it before purchasing the unit.

If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to ask.

received quickly...works great...
June 20, 2013
I had purchased one of these a year ago . It cleared up my fish pond in only a few days. However, sometime during the winter it must have lost power to the UV bulb. I purchased another one. It arrived quickly and was installed the same hour. The pond is nearly cleaned again after a week.
Pros:
does a great job
Cons:
apparently doesn't like freezing weather ( the fish lived thru the winter but the UV unit didn't.

The uv along with the other pump and filter in my outdoor pond is keeping my pond free of algae just like the product is advertised to do. It's easy to clean, and so far is doing an excellent job. I have only had it in operation for about two weeks so I can't say for the long haul....but so far..so good. I would recommend this product if you have algae.

Wow, exceeded all expectations
July 25, 2012
The only reason this is receiving four stars instead of five is that we have only been using it for five or six days so durability is still to be determined. However, our small backyard pond (700 gal) with nine goldfish has been clear now for almost the entire time. We cleaned the pond, water still murky, installed this uv unit and within 48 hours could actually see the bottom of the pond and all of the fish. A first for this small pond that receives lots of afternoon sun and summer temps average 94 degrees. Can I get one for the swimming pool?
Pros:
Easy to Use, Effective

It Works.
September 22, 2011
I tried this sterilizer as a last ditch effort after paying about $100 in algae fighting chemicals and losing 5 fish. This sterilizer took a while to work, approximately 2-3 weeks but very gradually I noticed a change in first the color of the water, it went from green to grey, and then after 1 month it is finally clear! I really appreciate the pump and sterilizer in one combination. Great deal for the price as long as it continues to function. The only drawback is only having a 30 day warranty, but still worth the money. Also I could not find replacement filters listed with the product.
Pros:
Easy to Use, Effective, Combination Product, Safe, Durable, Good Value
Cons:
Gradual
Best Uses:
