So Far So Good!
June 17, 2013
Installed a 150 gallon pond last season. It was abnormally hot & dry for Michigan last year and the pond gave me my run with algae blooms. Barley helped some, but it was definitely not enough. As I got the pond ready this year, I was looking to expand it to include a small waterfall feature that feeds into the one I put in last year. When I saw the combination UV/fountain pump, I had to give this a try. I have purchased a canister filter that does a great job on my daughter's 30-gallon hex.
This far Michigan has been hit with numerous storms where LOTS of rain has fallen. Typically that would cause enough of a chemistry change to trigger a bloom, but this pond pump has done an excellent job and my pond is still crystal clear. I will be anxious to see how it holds up throughout the Summer, with the waterfall feature and the reintegration of fish.
Pros:Good price. Long power cord. Multiple fountain head attachments.
Cons:Slightly inadequate O-ring on the fountain head extension (small leakage - reduces upward pressure to fountain head)
